The First Time Using Acrylics

For Christmas, I bought myself Arrtx acrylic markers and acrylic paints in general. (I always gift myself something for my birthday and Christmas XD Am I the only one, or does anyone else do this too?) aaaand once again (yes, yet again) bought a new sketchbook (where are the anonymous sketchbook hoarders ^^”).

Anyway, I’ve been feeling the urge to try out some new art mediums for quite a while now. My most experience is with Copics and watercolor. I’ve dabbled a bit with gouache (not as much as I’d like - I still find it a bit tricky), but I’ve always avoided acrylics - until now.

Acrylics never really appealed to me for a few reasons: Most colors are opaque, and once they dry, they’re no longer water-soluble. That always kind of scared me because I’m so used to being able to reactivate colors with water. In general, I love being able to create soft gradients without too much effort, and I find that really difficult with acrylics (though I think it just takes more practice).

Below, you can see the first pages of my new sketchbook and also my first illustrations using the Arrtx acrylic markers and acrylic paints in general:

I love the silky finish of the colors, it feels like a painting in a museum
